Google Assistant's support for hands-free command features on Netflix has been expanded and now includes multiple profile access, reserved for up to six users, using Voice Match.

The new feature is a significant step up as previously the same functionality was limited to the main user of the video content streaming service. As a result, other members of a family sharing a Netflix account are barred from enjoying the perks of the cool feature.

If the head of the family, for instance, has the monopoly of control of the Netflix features and functionalities, only he can call upon the service to resume a film or TV episode right where he last stopped. Needless to say, the rest of the household have been locked out.

Thanks to Google, this is no longer an issue. The feature that supports multiple profile access through Voice Match is now activated and is fully working for all Netflix subscribers. This welcome upgrade was discovered by Android Police, which pointed to an updated support document that detailed the feature bump.

"For Netflix, if you have a personal profile on a Netflix account, you can link your personal profile and set up Voice Match to play content where you left off," the report quoted Google as saying.

The feature set up is a one-time configuring, indicating that Google Home will continue to provide voice access to Netflix as long as Voice Match remains active and is maintained in its original settings.

"Google Home will remember your voice until you remove Voice Match," Google said.

The company added that a maximum of six profiles can be accommodated by the feature. It goes without saying that the same privilege will be extended to Netflix users.

How it Works:

Making Google Assistant take control of this particular feature on Netflix is essentially an act of linking previously configured Voice Match profiles to the digital bot. if no such profiles exist, users can simply refer to the setup instructions that can be found on the Google support doc mentioned above.

Once the Voice Match programming has been completed, the next steps to take will be a cakewalk. On the Google Home app, the course to follow will be Menu > More Settings > Videos and Photos, then head to Manage Profile under Netflix. Users can do all the manual linking there, then Google Assistant will take care of the rest.

All things covered, the next Netflix binge-watching can now rely on Google Assistant for some help like asking her to pause the video streaming for a quick break and resume the fun from where one had left off.
